GUEST SPEAKER
Our feature speaker, researcher Mike Pauers, will present: Scuffles, Sex, and Sight: Color Vision in Fishes. Mike's talk, which will be tailored to killifish, will cover color vision in general, color vision in water, and how fish use color vision.
xxxxxxxxx
Mike Pauers has been interested in fishes for as long as he can remember. He got his first aquarium at the age of four, and has kept and worked with fishes ever since. His early hobbyist interests led him to work at the retail level, and then to research in graduate school. He received his Ph.D. for his work on mate choice and population divergence in Lake Malawi cichlid fishes in 2004, and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Medical College of Wisconsin, working on questions of the evolution of color vision, and the role color vision plays in setting daily behavioral rhythms in cichlid fishes.

REGISTRATION OF FISH: ON-LINE ADVANCE REGISTRATION
We have just opened on-line registration for our 28th Annual Show. Pre-registration of show fish as well as "auction only" fish and plants is strongly recommended. Advance registration will greatly speed things up and avoid errors at the registration table at the show. We'll have all your tags ready and waiting for you so you'll be able to bench your fish without delay. It will also help us in planning how many tanks to allocate per Class which will make benching fish much easier for you. Changes or updates to your registration can always be made via email or in person on the day of the show. Please note that on-line registration will close at 6pm Oct 30th.
SUNDAY'S AUCTION
Sunday's auction will begin at 11am sharp. Judging from our previous shows we anticipate at least 500 pairs of killifish including: show fish, wild killifish and a nice selection of New & Rare killies. We are in the process of compiling a list of fish that will be in Sunday's auction. Many aquarium plants will also be available for purchase in the auction. We are accepting proxy bids for the fish in our auction. If you are interested in proxy bidding please follow these guidelines.

NEW AND RARE FISH AVAILABLE
WAKO attracts some of the best breeders in the U.S. so you can always count on seeing and purchasing some of the best and hard to find killies at our show. To introduce “new blood”, we have already acquired fish from Germany and Sweden, which will be available for auction:
