Things to do

It is easy (& cheap) to get around in Portland and to visit the various attractions. One of Portland's innovations is the so-called fareless square, shown in yellow on the map above. All public transport in that area is free, including the MAX light rail (seen to the top left), the street cars (bottom left) and the buses. The fareless square extends across the river to include the DoubleTree hotel, located at the green arrow above.

To get from the airport to the hotel, we recommend that you take the MAX red line. Check this Trimet map to see the route. On the bottom panel, mouse over the Lloyd Center station and the Google map will show you where the stop is. Try switching to the satellite image then zoom in to see the details.

You board the MAX right at the airport. The trip lies outside the fareless square but only costs a few dollars. The MAX passes right by the hotel, as you can see in the image above. Get off at the Lloyd Center/NE 11th Avenue MAX station. It is then a short walk up 11th Ave. to the hotel entrance. A map in PDF format is available. The address is 1000 NE Multnomah St. but the hotel driveway entrances are actually on NE 9th Ave. & NE 11th Ave. For those driving in, we have negotiated a special parking rate of only $6/day.
