Awards Introduction

The Chicago Killifish Association commissioned Ken McKeighen to paint all the show class and speciaty awards. Click here to see a sample gallery of a few of this year's award!

Ken's popular work has frequently graced the pages of the Journal of the American Killifish Association (JAKA) and has been presented as awards at previous conventions. Ken is striking out as a full-time commercial artist this year painting a variety of wildlife and nature subjects. His new enterprise, Natural Selections, has its own web site at http://www.onyxsite.com/kensgallery.html Ken also sponsors the McKeighen Award for best native or Central American killie.

There is a new award being offered this year. The Michiana Aquarium Society is sponsoring the Ron Colman Award for best bivittatum in honor of the late Ron Colman, who passed away in 1997.

Also, the UNYKA Challange Cup, sponsored by the Upper New York Killifish Association for the club that submits the most show entries, is being renamed the Jeff Bilbrough Challange Cup in honor of club member Jeff Bilbrough, who passed away earlier this year.

Another award is being sponsored for the first time is the Bill Jacobs Reserved Best of Show sponsored by both the Metropolitan Area Killifish Association & Long Island Killifish Association in memory of long time killie keeper Bill Jacobs, who just passed away.
