Nevin Aspinwall

"Killie Collecting in Cameroon: Concerns For the Future" (top of Page)

Saturday, 1:00 p.m., Windsor I & II Rooms.

He will talk about his collecting experiences in Cameroon.  His main research interest in Cameroon was the study of population variation in Fundulopanchax mirabilis moensis and Fundulopanchax mirabilis mirabilis.  During his stay in Cameroon he collected numerous species of killifishes throughout the southern 1/3rd of Cameroon. Numerous new locations of killies were collected and were brought back to the US for introduction into the hobby. As might be expected he brought back five different localities of Fp. mirabilis. Also, three locations of A. cameronense, inlcuding the type locality at Ambam, were collected. In addition to discussing what was collected he will also discuss what species were not found.
