Forums vs email lists
Guest_Guest
I'd like to get a feel for people's opinion regarding this forum format vs an email list, such as killietalk. I have created a poll. Everyone can vote, but you must register and log in first. Please vote only once!

Barry - I don't have an opionion yet I want to see how it goes. I like the idea of being able to view only one discussion topic at a time and save the rest for when I have more time.

I have just joined the Mugwump party.

If you know your American history, that means I'm still very much on the fence.

I want to see how it all shakes out.

I am open for both until I can make a decision which I prefer. Even then, I already know I like email lists so I won't abandon it.

I have extended this poll for 60 days. I was obviously too optimistic in the first instance, only giving it a life of 10 days. If you haven't voted yet, please do so.

Both have their uses. The email lists provide rapid communication without the need to wade through a webpage. The list is great for discussing fish stuff like done on Killitalk.

The forum is good for an orderred discussion such as what is going on in the AKA members area. A a discussion area for AKA business Forums are the best bet. Not everyone is interested in what colour the AKA should make its souvenir beer coasters.

Just my 2c.

Web forums can be a boon when there are many subjects to be discussed. For instance, this forum could conceivably be split up to discuss a species, genus, or spawning technique if interest warranted it. One can then quickly go to the section that they are interested in and post/read away.

I do like the email list as well, particularly when viewed with a mailer that organizes messages into threads.

Bah!

Forums all the way. Much easier to navigate without wading through unrelated info.
