It seems that there are different forms of coir available from bricks of fine particles to bags of coarse particles.

What is the best choice of particle size for worm cultures and fish spawning or egg storage mediums?

Thanks,

I'll chime in;)

I have used the bedding from my LFS for a number of years, sold by ZooMed. Used for terrariums and burrowing reptiles. It is mostly small particles, with some threads in it. I would hazard a guess an average particle size of 1/16" to 3/16" of an inch;) A three pack lasts me ages!!!

I add 2 blocks to a 5 gallon bucket half filled with scalding hot tap water/ I keep a lid on it to keep pests out. I have stored it in ziplock bags as well for added protection against mites and other potential insects.

I find the substrate drains really well and holds water better than peat. The added bonus, which I'm sure you already know, is that if it ends up in the tank, the small amount will not acidify your water;)

Hope this helps!
