Hi Lee, "Way back when" I had Blue Gularis from Willy Caspar and he said the fish would lay eggs that would hatch in 3 weeks and they did. I wonder if there is a difference in stains and may be influenced by where the originals came from.

Yes, Fp. walkeri katunse would be a good choice. It has a different breeding pattern as it is to be spawned in peat, peat, dried but still moist and kept bagged for about six weeks. It has been listed in the last year, I believe in The BNL. Easy to breed, colorful and usually prolific. Good Luck.

Hi, The rams will take a temp. closer to 80 deg. while the A. bit. prefer things a little cooler like in the low 70 deg. The rams will probably be the aggressor in the tank if you keep them together. Right now I have some A. bit. in the high 70 deg. range and they are tolerating it as long as you have a good flow of air in the tank.

Hi, What you may be looking for is Fp. scheeli. In looks I think they are close to Fp. that you have but not hard to tell apart. I don't remember the females exactly but body shape should be a little different. This is a hardy fish and should reproduce under the same conditions as the Fp. gardneri.

Hi, Please do not put them into a community tank like the one you mentioned but keep them at this time by themselves so that you can breed them. Tiny fishes go with tiny fishes and neons and other small tetras should cause them no problem.

You should be just right with a 10 gal. grow out tank. Weekly changes of at least 30% should have your fish in adult form in 6 mo. Try to feed twice daily.

Hi, Go to the web site Hippocampus Bildrchiv and look under Epiplatys and look at Ep. grahami. It looks like the "spitting image" of what your photo looks like. Check collection points of that fish and see if it might be the same as the one you have for yours. I hope this helps.
Regards,
Sandy
