Kryptolebias marmoratus Punta Maracayo PR10 [by probles]

Collectors' Reports:: Kryptolebias marmoratus Punta Maracayo PR10
Gang:

Yesterday I went fishing for marmoratus with a few friends. We collected 3 fish total at Punta Maracayo en Hatillo, PR. Two adult fish and one juvenile.

What is curious is that one of the adults had very cloudy eyes an a lot of tumors all over the body. It's the first time I see marmoratus like that. Lots of bumps all over. It was in such a bad shape that we returned it to the water and didn't even bother to take a picture. I talked to the frien that actually captured and it was not captured in an isolated pond... it was in the open swamp, same as the other two. Has anyone seen something like this in wild fish?

I kept the juvenile which was the one I captured, the color looks darker than the ones collected in 2007.

hasta pronto,

Pablo L. Robles

Collectors' Reports:: Uruguay Collection 2006
September 23 - October 4, 2006
Uruguay
On September 23 Allen Johnson, Lee Harper and Lou Pochettino arrived in Montevideo via Panamanian based airline Copa Air for a 10-day collecting trip with Heber Salvia and Pablo Laurino. This is a day by day account of the places visited and the fish collected. There was a concerted effort to collect some Cichlids and other species as well as killifish. These are recorded here for interest in what coexists with killifish. (Note: some of the species names are listed as collected, subject to later corrections). None of these fish were transported to the USA. Later supplements via eggs in peat may introduce some of the locations.
September 24, 2006
UY06-01 Bañado1 de India Muerta, Ruta 13, Velázquez, Rocha
Austrolebias gymnoventris
Austrolebias charrua
Austrolebias luteoflammulatus
Austrolebias wolterstorffi
UY06-02 Bañado del Cabollati, Ruta 14, Lascano, Rocha
Austrolebias gymnoventris
Austrolebias charrua
Austrolebias luteoflammulatus
Austrolebias wolterstorffi
Cynopoecilus melanotaenia
UY-06-03 Bañado del Arroyo India Muerta, Ruta 14, Rocha
Austrolebias gymnoventris
Austrolebias luteoflammulatus
Cynopoecilus melanotaenia
Mimagoniates inequalis
Pseudocorynopoma doriae
Microlepidogaster nigricauda
Otocinclus flexilis
Jenynsia lineata
Phalloceros caudimaculatus
UY-06-04.
Collectors' Reports:: Uruguay Collection 2004
Uruguay
July - August 2004
The following group from the AKA spent 10 days in Uruguay - Dave Franco, Allen Johnson, Lee Harper, Dave Koran and Lou Pochettino. They were guided and hosted by Heber Salvia, Pablo Laurino and Jorge Salvia. Over 33 sites were sampled and many of the fish were brought back with the necessary permits from Uruguayan authority and US Fish & Wildlife. Due to the stresses of travel and temperature changes, the survival rate was low for some species. I have assigned UY-04-X codes to the sites where UY denotes Uruguay, 04 denoted the year 2004 and the last number denotes the collecting site. Except for the site at Rosario (250 ppm), all water tested was very low in dissolved solids and free of nitrites, nitrates and was near pH=7.0.
They are listed in the order they were collected.
UY-04-01.
